Aperture 3 Memory Leak & other problems
Update 26-02-09 Aperture 3, now 3.0.01, there is a download available here, http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1006
This sorts out the problems listed below. But beware, I could not install the update as I had renamed the application Aperture 3 in the applications folder. It must just be Aperture else you will get a message that says ‘ you need to have aperure 3 installed for this update’, even though you have installed it !
Update- 21-02-10, I’m wring this while waiting for Aperture to launch, it’s been about ten minutes. It’s running on a fairly new macbook pro with 4g ram, but still Aperture 3 is turning into a program that just involves waiting. Aperture has been my steady photo workflow tool for a few years now, but Aperture 3 is looking like it could end my patience with it. I’m trying to get an edit out on a Sunday night and wanted to do it in an hour. So far I’ve looked at one images and I’ve been sat here for an hour. I run, tried to export, forced quit it, relaunched it, forced it again, restarted, and now I’m waiting for it to launch. Ah it’s here, 12 minutes !
Update, 19-02-10, A frustrating m0rning after a shoot. Simly trying to export 5 images to use in my blog on the website. I have now been trying for half and hour to get 5 images out of Aperture 3 with no luck. It just hangs when I try and export. I’ve done the usual, relaunch, restart etc, but still no luck. I will update as I find more answers.
Here we go again, Aperture 3, loving some of the updates, but yea what a memory leak, my 2008 library of 300,000 images took 36 hours, it grabbed 112 gig of virtual memory and eventually hung the machine. I had to restart with 80% of the library update done. When it restarted the library opened up ok, but I have yet to go into each project, so I will have to wait and see what happened. Here is what Mac User had to say about it.
