Shark bites my camera
Link here to view the highest quality video of the shark that thought my flash was one of the white fish they were being fed to draw them into our photo of Michelle Cove in the Bahamas. The crew on the dive boat laughed as we prepared to dive when they saw the size and colour of my underwater strobe units. ‘The Sharks will love those’ they said as they are a similar size and colour to the fish that we feed the sharks. ‘I’m sure they will have a go at them’.
I was incredibly lucky as the new housing from Ikelite was only just available for the Canon 5d mk2 prior to me going to the Bahamas for the Tourist Ofiice Campaign. Cameras Underwater rented me the strobes and they were brand new too. My luck to have captured it on video, as after 30 minutes of shooting I saw I had plenty of room left on the 8 gig card and decided to carry on shooting but with the video rolling. It was in this last ten minutes one of the sharks saw the fishy looking strobe and had a go. A few other sharks followed but when the first realised it’s mistake the others just came for a close look.
